Ducati has unveiled its 2027 Desmo450 MX and Desmo450 MX Factory, introducing a series of updates to the engine components, final gearing, ergonomics and electronics following the Italian manufacturer’s first year in the motocross market. Both models receive the same core updates, with changes developed using feedback from Ducati’s motocross racing program.

One of the biggest changes is a new 51-tooth rear sprocket, designed to increase torque at the rear wheel and improve acceleration out of corners. Ducati has also redesigned the gearshift and rear brake pedal tips to improve foot positioning and movement, while a larger 40mm fuel tank cap has been introduced to make refuelling easier.

Both models now come fitted with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft tyres, measuring 80/100-21 at the front and 110/90-19 at the rear.

Reliability updates

Ducati has made several changes to components aimed at improving durability and reliability. These include revised coupling tolerances for the starter motor gear and a redesigned water pump oil seal featuring revised geometry and a Teflon coating.

The exhaust manifold has been reinforced around its connection to the silencer, while the chain guide support, fork slider guards and front engine-to-frame mounting brackets have also been updated.

New predictive maintenance system

Another significant addition for 2027 is a predictive maintenance system, which analyses motorcycle usage data to adjust engine maintenance intervals according to how the bike has been ridden. On the standard Desmo450 MX, the system is available through an accessory Wi-Fi module.

The Factory model receives the Wi-Fi module as standard, providing access to the maintenance system and Ducati’s X-Link app. The app also allows riders to customise Riding Modes, engine response, Launch Control, engine braking and Ducati Traction Control.

2027 Desmo450 MX

The standard Desmo450 MX retains its 449.6cc Desmodromic single-cylinder engine, producing a claimed 63.5hp at 9400rpm and 53.5Nm at 7500rpm. The engine sits inside a twin-spar aluminium frame, with a cast aluminium swingarm and 7.2-litre fuel tank.

Suspension remains fully adjustable Showa, with 49mm upside-down forks featuring Kashima-coated fork legs and 310mm of travel. The rear Showa shock provides 301mm of wheel travel. Braking equipment includes Brembo callipers and Galfer discs measuring 260mm at the front and 240mm at the rear.

Electronics include two Power Modes, two Riding Modes, Ducati Traction Control, Power Launch, Quick Shift and Engine Brake Control.

The standard model also retains Takasago Excel aluminium rims with Alpina spokes and a DID chain. Visually, the 2027 model receives revised Ducati Red graphics with black logos replacing the previous white versions.

2027 Desmo450 MX Factory

The Factory version receives all the updates introduced on the standard model but retains its additional race-focused equipment. The biggest difference is the full Akrapovič titanium exhaust system, complete with dedicated engine mapping. Ducati claims the exhaust saves 1.7kg compared with the standard system.

The Factory also receives upgraded Showa suspension with additional surface treatments. The 49mm forks feature Kashima Extra Dark coating on the outer tubes and TiO treatment with superfinishing on the stanchions.

The rear shock receives the same Kashima Extra Dark coating on its body and TiO superfinishing treatment on the shaft. Other Factory-specific components include billet-machined triple clamps, a holeshot device, front brake disc guard, sump guard and an RK MXU gold O-ring chain.

The Factory model also receives a new 2027 Ducati Corse livery, featuring a red and black Ducati logo.
