First Look 2017 KTM Motocross Range | News

KTM has lifted the covers off its 2017 Motocross line-up with extensive revisions and upgrades across the four-stroke and two-stroke range.

The championship winning 450 SX-F headlines the range and for 2017 has been further refined to reduce weight, improve power and sharpen handling. The result is an unbelievable dry weight of 100.2kg.

This incredibly light weight is possible due to a number of design changes and new components including the new lightweight WP AER 48 front fork, which replaces the WP 4CS unit of previous models. The 48mm USD air-sprung fork is a split fork with separate functions for each leg. That means damping functions are on the right side, whereas the air spring is in the left.

All 4-stroke models are equipped with a new multi-functional handlebar map switch, which does three things; Activation of the traction control, activation of the launch control, Selection of an alternative power curve (Standard or Advanced).

A lightweight chrome-moly steel frame has a knack for easy handling, outlandish rideability, precise cornering and excellent stability. You can also count on high torsional rigidity and low longitudinal stiffness.

New ´No Dirt´ footpegs prevent smudging up the pegs, even when digging in deep ruts.
Top of the line Brembo brakes work together with Galfer wave discs to provide precise and powerful stopping ability. The 2017 models also get a new 10mm longer brake pedal and less aggressive brake pads.

350 SX-F

Since Tony Cairoli first took a 350 SX-F to the top of the MX1 World Championship in 2010, the Red Bull KTM athlete has dominated the class aboard this nimble but powerful bike with 5 consecutive world championship titles. No surprises here, with the combination of 450-style muscle and the agility of a 250. Who said you can’t have everything?

250 SX

The new KTM 250 SX with its all-new engine has one of the best power-to-weight ratios in the world of dirt, forming the ultimate fist against more complex 4-stroke rivals. With the grunt to devour all sorts of tracks and terrains, and a lightweight chassis keen to skim the surface, this lovechild of KTM’s R&D and Motorsport departments is born to lead the next pack of winners into a hazy blue future.

KTM gave the 250 SX engine an all new architecture with a new shaft arrangement for better mass centralization, a new cylinder with twin-valve controlled power valve, a new counter balance shaft for less engine vibrations, a 5-speed transmission and a hydraulically operated DDS clutch.
As of model year 2017, all KTM 2-stroke models are fitted with new MIKUNI TMX carburetors, replacing the Keihin products. This 38mm flat slide carb lives to provide smooth and controllable power all the way up to the limiter.
