KYLE WEBSTER IMPRESSIVE AT SOUTHWICK | Latest | News

Kyle Webster shines in debut AMA Motocross Race at Southwick with Mobile X Honda finishing inside the Top 10 and as high as 7th!

Kyle Webster’s AMA Motocross debut at the brutally challenging Southwick race saw him finish as high as 7th in the two-moto format. In Moto 1, a collision with other riders at the first turn forced Kyle to mount a comeback from last place. Another late moto crash made it impossible for him to secure his desired finish.

In Moto 2, Kyle achieved a modest start and worked his way into 6th place, holding this position for the first 10 minutes before falling back to 7th, where he maintained his position. This race provided invaluable experience for the current Australian Motocross Championship points leader. His two moto finishes resulting in a 10th overall.

“What an experience. I have a lot more to learn and improve on, and I am excited to get to work. There were some positives today, but the best thing to come out of racing my first race in America is realising we have a lot to improve on, including my riding, fitness, and the bike. Tenth overall is great but we need to be further up,” said Webster.

Team Principal Martin Davalos was impressed with Kyle’s speed, stating that it’s never easy lining up in a foreign country with no testing and never having ridden the track.

“It’s really impressive what Kyle has done. Top 7 is no small feat. He now has a new measure of where he needs to be, and I have no doubt he could crack the top 5 with some time,” said Davalos.

Kyle’s Team Director, Yarrive Konsky, believes racing in America will be a game-changer for Kyle.

“He is leading in Australia, and he needed to know and learn there is another level he needs to reach. I know he can improve, but he needed to compete against faster competition to understand that,” said Konsky.

Kyle will now turn his attention to Redbud and looks forward to another weekend of learning and racing.

“One thing is for sure: the intensity in the first five laps is something I haven’t experienced. I need to improve my sprint speed and stamina. It won’t happen overnight, but we now have something to work towards. I am looking forward to Redbud,” concluded Webster.
