The MXGP World Championship will again be decided on Australian soil, with the MXGP of Australia presented by Sitzler returning to Darwin from 18 to 20 September as the final, championship-deciding round of the 2026 season.
The provisional on-track timetable released today confirms a packed three-day program, with the all-Australian MX3 and MX85 State Challenge kicking off the action on Friday as teams from across the country battle for national bragging rights.
For the first time, Australian support classes will also race on Saturday morning, giving fans even more local action before the world championship classes take over.
Saturday, 19 September, marks the first full day of international action, with MXGP, MX2 and WMX riders hitting the track for practice, qualifying races and the opening WMX race.
Sunday brings the championship intensity to its peak, featuring the final WMX race and two races each for MXGP and MX2, delivering a full day of elite racing as the world’s best fight for crucial points in the final round of the 2026 title chase.
The world’s best MXGP and MX2 riders will descend on Hidden Valley Raceway for one adrenaline-fuelled weekend, joined by the final round of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship (WMX) and Australian wildcard riders eager to test themselves against the sport’s global elite. With world titles on the line, Darwin will once again become the centre of the motocross world.
Fans can expect bar-to-bar action at Hidden Valley’s purpose-built 1.6-kilometre track, with Australian wildcard riders in all three international classes set to line up against the sport’s biggest names. Those wildcard selections will be announced soon.
In another major boost for the event, Sitzler has signed on as Presenting Partner for the MXGP of Australia for 2026 and the following three years, reinforcing confidence in Darwin’s place on the global motocross calendar and the long-term future of MXGP in the Territory.
