This is the Racers Profile of Andrew Houlihan! Andrew Houlihan’s racing story didn’t begin in the desert, it started the way many great Australian careers do: motocross tracks and enduro loops in the early 2000s. It didn’t take long for results to follow. By 2003 he’d claimed the Northern Region Enduro title, and in 2006 he added the Victorian State Motocross Championship to his résumé. More state-level success followed across Victoria and the Northern Territory, building a foundation of speed, discipline, and mechanical sympathy.

The turning point came in 2018, when Houlihan stepped onto the international rally stage at the Hellas Rally in Greece. Since then, his trajectory has been steadily upward, and brutally earned. Dakar Rally finishes, the Africa Eco Race, Rallye du Maroc, Pan Africa Rally, and a full tilt at the FIM Baja World Cup have shaped Houlihan into one of Australia’s most experienced privateer rally racers.

His 2023 FIM Baja World Cup campaign underlined that progression, finishing 2nd overall in the Vets class and inside the top 10 in the 450cc class against factory-backed opposition. Add three Dakar Rally appearances, multiple Sunraysia Safari victories, and consistent top-10 global results, and Houlihan’s career reads less like a highlight reel and more like a masterclass in longevity.

Racing under the Nomadas Adventure Rally Team banner, Houlihan continues to balance elite international competition with the realities of privateer life, training, logistics, sponsorship obligations, and brand promotion all falling on the same shoulders. It’s that professionalism off the bike, paired with reliability and results on it, that has earned him strong international backing and a growing following at home.

Next on the horizon: a full seven-round assault on the 2026 FIM Baja World Cup, followed by a return to Dakar in 2027, a fitting next chapter for a rider who has built his career one finish at a time.
