Triumph has revealed its next-generation 2027 Tiger 1200 adventure range, introducing significant changes to its flagship adventure motorcycle, including increased engine performance, revised chassis geometry, electronically adjustable suspension and an extensive package of rider assistance technology.
The biggest change for off-road riders is the move to a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination across all four models, including the Rally Pro and Rally Explorer. Previously positioned as the more off-road-focused models, the Rally variants now share the same wheel sizes as the road-oriented GT versions, signalling a shift towards improved road handling and touring performance.
All four models retain 200mm of front and rear suspension travel, with the GT models using cast aluminium wheels and the Rally versions receiving side-laced spoked wheels.

MORE POWER FROM THE 1200 TRIPLE
Triumph has revised its 1200cc T-Plane triple-cylinder engine, increasing peak output by 8PS to 158PS at 9250rpm. The changes include a redesigned cylinder head, new pistons, lighter intake and exhaust valves, revised camshaft profiles, improved fuel injection and a freer-flowing exhaust system.
First, second and third gear ratios have also been revised to improve acceleration and low-speed control, while changes to the crankshaft and balancer shaft are designed to reduce vibration and improve refinement.
Triumph says the updated engine delivers stronger torque at lower engine speeds, with revised primary and final-drive ratios reducing the bike’s crawl speed by 6km/h. That should make a noticeable difference when negotiating tight terrain, particularly on a large-capacity adventure motorcycle.
The six-speed gearbox and shaft-drive system have also been refined to deliver smoother gear changes and transitions between acceleration and deceleration. Triumph Shift Assist continues to provide clutchless upshifts and downshifts.

NEW SUSPENSION LOWERS SEAT HEIGHT BY 30MM
Another major development is the introduction of SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX semi-active suspension, which automatically lowers the motorcycle by 30mm as it comes to a stop.
The system monitors speed and braking inputs before reducing suspension pressure, making it easier for riders to reach the ground. Once the motorcycle accelerates, the suspension automatically returns to its normal riding height.
Combined with a two-position seat adjustment and an optional low seat, the Tiger 1200 can achieve a minimum stationary seat height of 790mm.
The system also introduces Centre Stand Assist, which temporarily increases rear suspension preload to reduce the effort required to lift the motorcycle onto its centre stand.
Suspension hardware includes 49mm Showa forks and a rear monoshock with automatic preload adjustment. Riders can select Firm, Medium or Soft damping settings independently of the riding modes, while the system continuously adjusts compression and rebound damping using information from multiple sensors, including a six-axis IMU.
A new hydraulic secondary bump stop has also been introduced to improve suspension control over larger impacts.

RADAR SYSTEM BRINGS ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Triumph has substantially expanded the Tiger 1200’s electronics package, introducing front and rear Bosch radar systems with a range of advanced rider assistance functions.
Adaptive Cruise Control automatically adjusts speed and following distance using throttle and braking inputs, while Group Ride Assist is designed to maintain appropriate spacing when travelling behind other motorcycles.
Other functions include Forward Collision Warning, Emergency Brake Assist, Riding Distance Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Rear Distance Warning.
The system can also provide a haptic warning through the rear brake pedal if a potential collision is detected and the rider continues to close on the vehicle ahead.
These features work alongside Optimised Cornering ABS and Traction Control, which use data from the six-axis IMU to adjust braking and engine torque according to lean angle and speed.
Depending on the model, riders can access up to eight riding modes, including Road, Rain, Eco, Sport, Off-road, two configurable Rider modes and Off-road Pro on Rally variants. Off-road modes can now be selected while riding.

SEVEN-INCH TOUCHSCREEN AND SMARTPHONE CONNECTIVITY
The new Tiger 1200 also receives a seven-inch Bosch HD touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The display supports navigation, music and messaging applications, with controls available through the touchscreen at speeds below 2km/h or via the handlebar switchgear while riding.
A waterproof phone compartment built into the fuel tank includes USB-C charging and an automatically controlled cooling fan to prevent overheating.
Other updates include a redesigned adaptive LED projector headlight that illuminates corners according to lean angle, with additional lighting activated at 15 and 30 degrees.
Triumph has also revised the bodywork, fuel tank, radiator cowls, windscreen and seating, with rider and pillion seats receiving an additional 10mm of foam. Heated rider and pillion seats and three-stage heated grips are standard across the range.

FOUR MODELS, TWO FUEL TANK SIZES
The 2027 Tiger 1200 range comprises the GT Pro, GT Explorer, Rally Pro and Rally Explorer.
Pro models retain a 20-litre fuel tank, while Explorer versions increase capacity to 30 litres. The Explorer models also receive tyre pressure monitoring, additional engine protection and handlebars positioned 10mm higher and 10mm wider than those on the Pro versions.
The Rally models retain additional off-road equipment, including engine protection, adjustable folding brake pedals and an Off-road Pro riding mode.
All models use Brembo Stylema brakes with a Magura HC1 radial master cylinder, while the aluminium Tri-Link swingarm incorporates the shaft-drive system.
Triumph has retained its 16,000km service intervals and three-year warranty, while introducing additional touring accessories, including a new 58-litre aluminium top box capable of carrying two helmets.
The new Tiger 1200 range is available to order now, with Australian dealerships expected to receive the motorcycles from December 2026. Local pricing has not yet been announced.
