Jorge Prado has closed out his rookie AMA Supercross campaign with a podium finish at the final round of the 2026 championship in Salt Lake City, delivering a composed ride to third overall for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.
The Spaniard qualified eighth-fastest inside Rice-Eccles Stadium aboard the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION before taking the holeshot in his heat race and finishing second. Prado then carried that form into the Main Event, completing the opening lap in third position and remaining in the lead group for the duration of the race.
Prado briefly moved into second place during the Main Event before ultimately securing third at the chequered flag, marking his second podium result of the season.
The result caps off an important first season of American Supercross competition for the four-time MXGP World Champion, who adapted to the technical demands of 450SX racing throughout the 17-round championship. Prado finished ninth overall in the final standings with two podium finishes and seven additional top-10 results.
Prado said the transition from MXGP to Supercross proved more difficult than expected, but credited the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team for its work throughout the season.
“It has been a pretty cool Supercross season for me,” Prado said. “I’m very happy to have made it to the end. Starting A1 with a podium, my expectations were high all year long, but I knew it was a learning curve.
“We had some good and bad moments, but to finish the season back on the podium feels great. The team has worked really hard with me all year and we learned so much together.”
While Prado celebrated another podium, teammate Eli Tomac endured a disappointing end to the season.
Tomac topped qualifying with a 49.065-second lap before crashing heavily in 450SX Heat 2. The American was later withdrawn from the event as a precaution after suffering an impact to his stomach and hip.
Despite missing the final Main Event, Tomac completed a strong debut season with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, winning at Anaheim 1, San Diego, Seattle and Daytona on his way to fourth overall in the championship standings.
The 2026 AMA Supercross Championship was won by Ken Roczen, who finished the season on 349 points ahead of Hunter Lawrence on 346.
Attention now turns to the Pro Motocross Championship, which begins at Pala on 30 May as the SMX World Championship continues into its outdoor phase.
