The last time we tested this jacket it was November. It went in the cupboard after that for summer but thanks to a cold spell in March and April, it came back out! After a decent stint sitting around the fire wearing the Milwaukee M12 Toughshell Heated Jacket I’ve now got a good idea of what it is like in chilly conditions. It’s been worn at the track, in the pits, and even out for dinner too, and it’s proven to be more than just a gimmick with a battery in it.

We Liked

Comfort This thing is incredibly comfortable. It’s not bulky, doesn’t restrict movement, and feels like a normal jacket you’d happily wear all day.

Heating The heating is simple and effective. One button on the chest and you’ve got instant warmth that spreads evenly without feeling over the top.

Durability So far, nothing has broken. The wiring, battery connection and overall construction have all held up well to regular use.

Style The all-black finish looks smart. You can wear it to the track, around the pits, or even out to dinner without looking like you’ve just come off a jobsite.

We Didn’t Like

Battery The battery in the rear pocket takes a bit of getting used to. You notice it at first, especially when sitting down, but it becomes less of an issue over time.

Verdict

The Milwaukee M12 Toughshell Heated Jacket has backed up its early promise. It’s comfortable, works well, and looks good enough to wear anywhere. Once you get used to the battery setup, it’s an easy piece of gear to live with and one we’ll keep reaching for when the temperature drops.
