So far, the King Gee XtremeGuard safety boots have been nothing short of excellent. Straight out of the box, they were surprisingly comfortable – no break-in period, no blisters, just solid support and impressive cushioning thanks to the added PU footbed and padded tongue and collar. The black version even looks sharp enough to wear socially, especially if you’re heading out after work. The water-resistant leather and durable ripstop upper keep them looking clean and scuff-free longer than most boots I’ve worn.
My wife’s been using the other pair for gardening and general yard work. While she’s a fan of the comfort and fit, the steel toe is definitely overkill for potting plants and pruning, but she still likes the peace of mind. The boots feature a zip side for quick on/off, a Dri-Freeze moisture control lining to keep your feet cool and dry, and King Gee’s unique Q-Flex non-metallic penetration protection plate, which adds a layer of underfoot safety without compromising flexibility.
After a solid few months of wear, the YKK zippers are still sliding smoothly, the inside padding hasn’t flattened or frayed, and the TPU Scuff Cap and SureGrip PU/rubber outsole continue to handle wet, oily and uneven surfaces without slipping. The wide profile steel toe hasn’t rubbed or cramped, and the reflective detailing adds a nice safety touch in low-light conditions. These are proper job-ready boots with a smart finish – and easily some of the best all-rounders I’ve worn.
