Horsham Opens its Gates before FIM World Junior Motocross Championship | News

FIM World Junior Motocross (WJMX) is heading to Horsham and Motorcycling Australia (MA) invites riders to attend a preliminary event for a chance to ride on the track before the rest of the world.

This preceding event will be an exciting precursor to the eagerly anticipated WJMX on the 26th of August.

The event will be held at Horsham Motorcycle Club on March 10 and 11 will be under the watchful eye of selectors, who will be looking to select riders to represent Australia at WJMX. Providing an opportunity for young riders to showcase their talents.

The WJMX is the premier Junior Motocross event and Australia has the honour of hosting in 2018. The world’s fastest youngsters can look forward to an incredible spectacle, with the track known for its capability for passing opportunities. The track’s facilities are world class and will offer plenty of vantage points for spectators.

Australia will have 21 riders flying the flag at the biggest Junior Motocross event to hit our shores. The 21 riders will be split between the following three classes, seven to be selected in each;

WJMX Classes
-FIM Junior 65cc Motocross World Cup: Age Restrictions-minimum 10 years of age and maximum 12 years of age.
-FIM Junior 85cc Motocross World Championship: Age Restrictions-minimum 12 years of age and maximum 14 years of age.
-FIM Junior 125cc Motocross World Championship: Age Restrictions- minimum 13 years of age and maximum 17 years of age.

Australian riders may have the chance to secure a wildcard entry. If there are less than 50 entries received from other federations, there will be opportunities for wildcards for Australian riders at the WJMX.
