Victoria gearing-up for 2016 Yamaha Australian Four Day Enduro | Latest

THE 2016 Yamaha Australian-Four Day Enduro will rev into life in Mansfield, Victoria and Motorcycling Victoria is pleased to announce the team that will take it on November 14 - 19.

The 2016 Australian Four Days Enduro Championship will be located in Merrijig, just outside Mansfield is one of Australia’s most well-known enduro competitions.

Contributing a completely unique format compared to most enduro competitions and featuring elements similar to those of the International Six Days Enduro, it is classed as one of Australia’s most fiercely contested events on the year.

Unlike the Australian Off-Road Championships, or the Finke Desert Race or Hattah Desert Race, the Yamaha Australian Four Day Enduro has a different format and a totally different experience to any other event on the calendar. The A4DE will see over 120 competitor’s eager for prologue on Tuesday, November 15, which gives every competitor the opportunity to post the fastest time in the hopes seeded as high up in the pecking order as possible on race commencement the following day. Competitors will not only compete for individual honours but for those selected will also represent their state as well.

2017 Yamaha A4DE Event Organiser Chris Gray said he was really looking forward to a top-notch event: “It’s going to be good to see a lot of the riders who have been away overseas like Matty Phillips and Daniel Milner who we haven’t seen for a while. It’ll be good to see what he does as well as the local guys in Daniel Sanders, Josh Green, and Chris Hollis. It’s going to be really interesting to see who has stepped-up to the mark and done the training to get themselves through the event,” Chris said.

The Victorian Yamaha Australian Four-Day team is as follows:

Peter Boyle
Chris Davies
Mark Grover
Daniel Milner
Daniel Sanders
Jack Simpson

Jake Blackwood
Tom Mason
Lyndon Snodgrass
Andrew Wilksch

Niki Bedford
Sophie Coldicutt

On Victoria’s chances at the A4DE, Chris added: “I don’t like to put the cart before the horse, but Victoria is looking really good. Daniel Milner is a four-time winner and is going for his fifth title this year; he’s always a hot contender. Daniel Sanders is not only Australia’s current Number One enduro rider but is also the E3 world champion at the International Six Day Enduro.

“We’ve also got Peter Boyle, Chris Davies and Mark Grover who are always strong contenders for their class. Jack Simpson has just come back from ISDE in Spain also has great form coming into the event. We certainly have a lot of speed in the Senior Team,” Chris added.

“In the Junior Team, we’ve got the likes of Tom Mason who has always been a good contender at the A4DE and won titles in the Australian Off-Road Championships and became a world champion at the ISDE last year. The Junior Team is looking really strong,” Chris said.

“Our Women’s Team – Niki Bedford and Sophie Coldicutt – will do some great things, but unfortunately in Victoria, we don’t have three world champions in Jess Gardiner, Tayla Jones, and Jemma Wilson. Even though our girls do a great job out there you have to give it up for those world champions; that’s why they’ve been world champions for four years in a row. We’ll certainly put up a good battle and anything can happen at an A4DE that gives us a chance to get the edge

Chris would like to thank the Mansfield Motorcycle Club who will be hosting the event. “You can’t thank enough the clubs involved. Mansfield Motorcycle Club has never hosted an event like this before. They’ve been able to make things happen; they’ve been awesome. Dandenong MC, Koo Wee Rup MC, and Diamond Valley MC have been fantastic. There have been so many people behind the scenes who have made it happen; from organising the entries to all of the volunteers. I can’t possibly mention them all, but everyone who has helped get the event across the line has done a great job,” Chris added.

Motorcycling Victoria would like to wish everyone competing at the 2016 Yamaha Australian Four-Day Enduro the best of luck next week! For more information on the event please visit: or
