Waters ready for comeback at MXGP of Italy | News

Todd Waters will be re-joining teammates Tim Gajser and Calvin Vlaanderen for the MXGP of Italy after a three-round absence due to injury – following his debut in Latvia a month ago.

The 27-year-old fractured his right-collarbone during qualifying at the MXGP of Latvia while filling in for injured team rider Brian Bogers. Waters underwent surgery in Riga to stabilise the injury. One month on from surgery and after only a week on the bike, Waters will be there for the gate drop at the MXGP of Italy.

“I’m feeling good heading into the weekend. I’ve had a good couple of days of testing with the team, we made some big improvements with the bike and that brought some fresh confidence,” said Waters. “Also, I’m getting more confident every lap after the injury: it’s only a month after the operation so it’s still very fresh, but it’s in the past now so I’m ready for some action this weekend. I love going to Italy: I’ve heard it’s going to be hot so I’m going to enjoy that side as well. Overall I’m pretty excited after missing the last few rounds so I can’t wait to get back racing the GPs.”

The MXGP of Lombardia will begin this Saturday at 11:30 local time (GMT +2) with the free practice session for the MX2 class, which will be followed at noon by the MXGP one.
