LONG TERM TEST #1 | SHERCO 300 SEF FACTORY | Bike Reviews

Geoff Braico has a new interest, and it’s French. Braico now how has a 2024 Sherco 300 SEF Factory for a long term test.

It feels pretty awesome to have my own 2024 Sherco 300 SEF Factory long term test bike again. It’s been a good while since I reluctantly handed back my Honda CRF450RX from 2023 and I’ve been riding a 2022 KTM350SXF for the last few months. I love the power of the 350SXF and it’s nice and light as well.

However, I still have a few issues with the suspension especially in the trees where it just seems harsh and I’m not as fit as I used to be, so it beats my old body up. To be honest, the summer has been slow going for riding with it being dry and not overly fun track conditions, so I’ve kind of been not as motivated to ride that much.

I’ve been looking for a bit of a change coming into 2024 and I’ve been toying with the idea of changing brands or engine sizes, you know, something completely different to inject some new life and get the motivation back again to ride. Well, as fate would have it, I showed up for our recent Sherco 300 two-stroke vs 300 four-stroke comparo just before Christmas and there was an extra 300 SEF four-stroke machine parked up off to the side there. Upon closer inspection, the bike was a brand spanker and even better, it had my name on it. I’m not going to lie, I was pretty stoked!

I hadn’t had the opportunity to ride the Sherco 300 four-stroke in a few years and for 2024, they’ve thrown a shit ton of time and money at the bike and developed a brand-new engine for it faster and lighter than ever before. After spending the day on the test bike, I was pretty excited to head home with a new 2024 Sherco 300 SEF Factory long term test bike of my own.

I really enjoyed riding the bike, it was just so easy to ride, and the new motor is stealthily fast and the KYB suspension was as good as to be expected. I have gelled with the bike right away and it feels really small between the legs and is easily thrown around on the trail. I’ve done a few sprint lap days and a few trail rides so far on the new beast and it’s surprised me every time I’ve ridden it.

I am happy on my bike again and it’s a nice feeling to have a bike that seems to fit me, and my current state of fitness. I look forward to spending some more time on it and really getting to see the full potential of the bike. I hope to get to a few races on it as well so fingers crossed, I can make that happen. See you out on the track!
