Dean Wilson returns for AUS-X Open as Barcia replacement | News

Following the news Justin Barcia will not attend this year's AUS-X Open, organisers have announced Dean Wilson will make the trip down under to compete at AUS-X Open for the second year in a row.

“I’m super excited to be returning to the AUS-X Open again in 2018,” Wilson exclaimed.

“It’s perfect timing for me to come down and really put in a good performance; with the high calibre names that are competing this year, if I can beat them, then I’m back on the international radar, which is what I’m aiming for,” Wilson added.

Wilson won the SX1 Main Event on Saturday night at last year’s AUS-X Open Sydney but narrowly missed out on the AUS-X Open crown after placing second to countryman Jason Anderson in Sunday’s Main Event.

“Obviously last year went really well – I won the first night and then backed it up with a second on the second night, which was awesome. But just the overall atmosphere and vibe – to come and see Australia and Sydney during the summer time was incredible, and I can’t wait to head back down under,” stated Wilson.

The flying-Scotsman will go head-to-head with defending champ, Anderson, local hero Chad Reed, four-time AMA Supercross Champion Ryan Villopoto, plus a competitive field of Australia’s top supercross riders.

Wilson will ride a DPH Motorsport team prepared, Husqvarna FC450 at this year’s Monster Energy AUS-X Open in Sydney.

Barcia was due to compete in the event on the weekend of 9-10 November but pulled out two-weeks ago, as he requires eye surgery and is unable to schedule it at a time that does not clash with the event.
